Old stories

I've been posting to AO3 lately. I had forgotten how many stories I wrote back in the day. I'm not sure all of them deserve to be preserved and I think I may delete a few but, what the heck. When I finish the HtLJ collection--its over 20 so far--I will do HP. There are many less of those. Thank goodness.

The first one I posted--some Hercules/Iolaus smut--has gotten about 35 reads, which isn't bad for an OLD story. The others are mostly being ignored but I doubt anyone is much into HtLJ anymore. The ones I posted on Skyehawke were ignored, too.

Still, I keep finding things and thinking, is this worth saving?

I really am such a firm believer in this. I get looking at your old work and seeing all the flaws. Sometimes seeing only the flaws. Believe me, I get it. But as a reader, I haven't ever read one single perfect story. None of my favorites are perfect. I love them anyway. Don't deprive readers of pleasure - pleasure is such a rare thing in this life. As a reader I would make this plea of any author whose work I've enjoyed, as I've enjoyed yours. It's not egotism, really - it's not like I'm saying you should think "Oh, everyone will love these anyway." I don't think that when I put my stuff up! What I do think is if even one person gets half an hour or an hour of pleasure, isn't that a cool thing?

So I'm glad you said that. :-)
